Position Description:
Sage Theatre Society is currently inviting applications to our Board of Directors.
Sage Theatre fosters community and empathy through our theatre productions, and through enhancing the local arts community. Our theatre productions are intimate introductions to fascinating characters and situations. We also produce the IGNITE! Festival, which fosters 100+ local emerging artists every year.
Our Board have an interest in theatre with high social impact and are strong advocates for Sage Theatre. To help support our mandate and our continued contributions to the Calgary performing arts scene, we are looking for energetic people who have something special to contribute to the governance and operations of one of Calgary’s longest-standing non-venue live theatre companies. In return, you’ll get to do this alongside a team of equally-committed (and amazingly talented) volunteers.
Sage Board Directors:
- shape the strategic direction of the organization
- cultivate relationships to support the organization
- are advocates, donors and volunteers to Sage
- attend monthly board meetings
- participate on committees such as finance and fund development, and/or working groups such as special events and marketing
Orientation and training is provided to make sure Directors are comfortable and knowledgeable in their role; previous board experience is certainly an asset but not required.
